- Provide comprehensive training and instructions in all areas of transportation, including but not limited to; shunt truck driving, loading and unloading, safety guidelines, yard operation, computer and technology handling and radio communication
- Train, monitor, supervise and evaluate drivers
- Accountable for the safety performance of the driver demographic
- Maintain fleet compliance in order to minimize down time and meet client demand
- Create and maintain policies and procedures related to Risk Management, Compliance and H&S
- Maintain current and accurate records of all the trainee’s progress and status
- Responsible for owning key external relationships including but not limited to; insurance, underwriters, and other key contacts
- Responsible for the management of all incident reporting
- Perform and document periodical audits on drivers
- Develop, implement and assess training program as necessary
- Provide awareness of dangerous goods and hazardous materials requirements and fundamentals of the transportation industry
- Ensure Safety & Compliance and follow occupational health, safety and environmental procedures related to transportation industries
- Chair and Maintain the JHSC and meetings
- Perform on site incident/accident investigation and communicate with applicable parties
- Review and follow up on any infractions, accidents, injuries, claims and other incidents as they occur
- Complete and maintain proper workplace documentation (log books, audit results, training records, etc.)
- Responsible for reporting, license renewals, CVOR and abstract documentation
- Participate in communication on subjects pertaining to procedures, safety, etc.
- Assist in driver recruitment and hiring process
- Administer new driver orientation/training programs
- Carry out driver in-cab evaluations and road observations
- Keep informed of new and changing industry regulations and propose changes to remain compliant
- Collect and maintain accurate and up-to-date safety and compliance documentation
- Ensure all fleet equipment is in good working order and all preventive maintenance is done
- Strive for continuous improvements in all facets of transportation operations in support of Operational Excellence initiatives
- Perform other duties as required
