SUMMARY

Reporting to the Regional Director who leads and manages a large client account, the Senior Manager, Corporate Interior Design is responsible for managing a team of workplace solutions professionals in delivering space programs to their client. This role is responsible for ensuring that the client’s Space Program is aligned to their corporate real estate strategy and delivers high quality services, solutions and support to key stakeholders. The scope of the role includes leading and managing the strategic relationship with the key client stakeholders, as well as overseeing and managing both ongoing day to day needs as well as all space projects. Leading and managing the client’s space program requires strong knowledge and understanding of Workplace Strategy, Interior Design, Drawing & Occupancy management, Space Planning, Move Add Change, and Change Management. The Space Program must be delivered in accordance with the contract and identified success measures for both tenant improvements and capital projects.

In addition, The Senior Manager, Corporate Interior Design collaborates with clients to identify needs and opportunities to solve problems in their workplace in conjunction with the dedicated client, workplace and project management subject matter experts. The mandate for this role is to ensure successful delivery of the client’s Space Program and add value through identification of potential solutions to the account. Through close partnership with counterparts on the accounts, this position will lead the team and provide seamless integration with internal stakeholders across all areas of workplace services and project management. This role will be based in Ottawa to support a large client account. The Senior Manager, Space Management will be required to work at the client’s location(s) as required to best accomplish tasks and provide effective client and team member support. The ideal candidate will lend support to the business development process, provide business intelligence, key metrics, industry best practices and benchmarking.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

People Leadership

Demonstrates strong, competent leadership for team members to guide them in reaching their full potential and meeting their objectives, which supports achievement of our corporate goals. Specifically, these responsibilities include but not limited to:

Interior Design and Space Management

Bring experience in leading, managing and executing interior design and space management programs in workplace engagements

Provide management and supervision to a space management team and others responsible for for delivering drawing and occupancy services, space planning and move adds and change projects ensuring that delivery is undertaken optimally and within BGIS / Client procedural boundaries

Manage and oversee that the execution and updates of Drawing & Occupancy space management tool is completed on time and reflects additions and changes of onsite conditions; ensure accuracy of input by undertaking verification activities with other personnel, clients or by field visit; support project management, space management, move management, asset tracking, maintenance management as required by contract deliverables

Apply a structured methodology including process and tools to support the client’s space program. Ensure processes are in place and operating to gain consistency, repeatability and alignment with Client needs with respect to key delivery sub processes such as: drawing management, manual development and updates, report writing, needs analysis etc.

Ensure processes have been developed and execution of site audit program, schedule and implementation are completed on time

Oversee and support the business development activities as required and facilitate the development and transition of Drawing & Occupancy services into new accounts; includes such activities as drawing file manipulation, space poly-lining and identification to established standards and plans

Establish work schedules and priorities.Assign, prioritize and monitor work progress and completion to ensure adherence to timeliness, quality standards and all other related requirements

Ensure internal escalation of issues or potential risks are raised to Regional Director, where required, and communicate and facilitate the resolution of escalated issues and challenges that include internal/external stakeholders

Execute work required to meet project commitments related to time constraints on deliverables and quality expectations (KPI's)

Establishes work schedules and priorities.Assigns, prioritizes and monitors work progress and completion to ensure adherence to timeliness, quality standards and all other related requirements

Reporting, Modeling and Data Management

Comfortable with space occupancy and utilization data and the ability to draw out the ‘story’ from data and present it in a clear and concise way

Oversee the reporting and analysis functions using Drawing & Occupancy Space Management and reporting tools to support contract deliverables, any potential errors are escalated appropriately, and proposal of potential solutions provided

Client Relationship

Successfully maintain and build client relationships with an exceptional customer experience focus

Think strategically and assess space impacts with an in-depth understanding of client needs and challenges

Continuous Improvement

Seek continuous improvement opportunities that improve efficiency, benefit clients and other team members; keep abreast of technology changes and training requirements related to the role

Demonstrate effective and proactive communication and continuous improvement activities with internal/external stakeholders to ensure client satisfaction and BGIS success

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design

10+ years of corporate interior design experience including managing and executing workplace projects, preferably with experience managing teams

Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of interior design and space management programs to the completion, overview, and management of complex assignments

Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle

Experience with large-scale organizational change efforts

Demonstrated ability to work with CAD drawings and integrate it with other facility and space management software

Demonstrated software or programming skills in AutoCAD 2015 or higher

Knowledge of Revit &/or MicroStation preferred

Strong comprehension of industry standards, details and specifications

Software proficiencies related to the assignment – MS Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. with ability to quickly learn new applications.

Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools an asset

Knowledge of IWMS and / or Space Management Tools an asset (i.e. Serraview, FM Systems, Manhattan, Condeco, etc.)

Ability to lead and manage a team to high performance and engagement

Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal while developing and maintaining strong relationships

Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations

Strong presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to deliver client sessions with all levels of management

Excellent written and verbal communication skills- able to convey complex ideas and messages in a simple and clear way

Ability to effectively collaborate with internal team members and clients on projects and be able to draw out the best in people

Networking- attend events, conferences and reads industry-relevant publications and material to stay up to date with trends and challenges across sectors

French speaking (bilingual) is an asset.
