# of openings:
Provides confidential senior level administrative and secretarial support to the Beedie School of Business Dean and Assistant Dean, External Relations. Interacts with, and provides information to Beedie staff/faculty, Beedie Assistant/Associate Deans, senior SFU academic/staff administrators (i.e., Office of the President, Vice President Academic and other faculties), other academic institutions, accreditation organizations, students, donors and the business community. Arranges and participates in meetings for committees, external advisory boards, business councils and faculty/student events, including agenda coordination/preparation, taking/transcribing minutes, and making arrangements for catering, audio-visual and room bookings. Coordinates all accreditation site visit logistics for internal and external people, meetings, and events.
High school graduation and one year of post-secondary education or formal program equivalent with courses in word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet applications, and training in secretarial practices.
4 years experience.
An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study and experience is acceptable.
Good knowledge of standard office practices, methods and equipment.
Good knowledge of university programs, policies and procedures.
60 wpm typing with a high degree of accuracy.
Excellent proof-reading and editing skills.
Excellent communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills.
Excellent organizational and problem solving skills.
Good intercultural communication skills.
Ability to use word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation, publication, web updating, e-mail, web browser and scheduling applications (e.g., Word, FileMaker Pro, Excel, PowerPoint, Prezi, Adobe InDesign, Marqui, Explorer/Mozilla Firefox, Safari, and Entourage) at an intermediate level.
Ability to exercise mature judgment and initiative.
Ability to handle confidential/sensitive material with discretion, and exercise tact and diplomacy.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions.

Ability to be flexible to unexpected changes in working location to be available to the Dean/Assistant Dean.
Ability to be on-call during breaks to be available to the Dean/Assistant Dean.
Ability to move and lift office supplies and materials weighing up to 10 kg.
