A privately owned company in the Waste and Recycling industry, who is consistently one of Canada’s Top Growing Companies, is looking for an Assistant Financial Controller to work as a business partner alongside the Financial Controller to produce valuable input and affect business trajectory.
Description:
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Assistant Financial Controller will make a difference in our fast-paced organization. Their role on the team will be to assist the management team with the creation and preparation of various reports, assist in establishing internal controls, and work with all team members to optimize business growth.
This role will require in depth understanding of ASPE, full cycle accounting, advanced Excel knowledge, and a proven ability to multi-task within an evolving environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial statements & reconciliations
- Complete monthly financial forecasts
- Review reconciliations prepared by other team members
- Manage accuracy of payroll information
- Prepare monthly KPI reports
- Prepare various CRA reporting and filing
- Create visual reports to improve understanding of financial and operational data
- Lead meetings and presentations of financial results
- Control back up support for AR, AP, and other business processes
- Discuss business growth strategy and risks
- Various other finance duties as needed
What we are looking for:
- Accounting degree or diploma and over 3 years of equivalent experience
- Completed CPA Designation (or on the path to complete)
- Full-cycle accounting experience
- Advanced MS Excel knowledge – VBA & Power Query knowledge an asset
- Capability to work with large datasets to derive business insight
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to meet and work within tight deadlines
